I had a feeling we were headed for an ending like this.
Congratulations on your emotion stirring technique. I don't really know Nadia, and I have zero vested interest in her career. Yet, I still feel absolutely terrible for her. To come in as the celebrated champion in front of the home crowd, and then get pretty much owned. I mean, there was a bit of tactical drama to break things up, but the sum total is that she got beat six ways from Sunday. Bad enough that she's going to be nearly erased from the conversation... at least for a while. All the talk now will be about Orlova and where she goes from here.

The challenge here is to tell the story of a division that is bigger than the character that is central to it from my point of view (Alesia). Surely I'll find some character development to do along the way with this.

Anastastia presents a very difficult challenge to Alesia, as she would face the same problem as Nadia - Anastasia has range and is comfortable fighting at a distance.ย I think Alesia would find the new champ a very difficult opponent to defeat...

Surely after surgery, Nadia will get back to being a beautiful beast. You have to wonder if this fight will damage her confidence, though.
In a way, Anastasia makes me think of Vitali Klitschko. How the hell do you beat them when you can't reach them?

Anastasia is a tough one to crack.ย Enough power to make you respect her punches and just a nightmare style matchup for any fighter who isn't strong with trying to get inside - I think Nadia had the right idea, be like Frazier, use headmovement to be evasive and pressure with footwork, and then just make your punches count - perhaps going to the body is a good idea - as Anastasia is more lanky, she might be more susceptible to those punches to the body...

Totally outgunned by Anastasia in the boxing department. The Russian beast doesn't have the same power, but her IQ and her reach were enough for a domination. We have a very strong champion to look up to.
