REBLOG HERE! Inspired by the poem of the same name, written by Giacomo Leopardi in 1823. The title means “to his woman”, but it’s not a hymn to a real woman the poet loves, but to a feminine ideal; what Leopardi was seeking in the women he loved was something beyond them, something that was made visible in them, that communicated itself through them, but was beyond them: a platonic idea, perfect, untouchable, pure, incorporeal, evanescent, and illusory.
As a reference for the sleeping man, I used this wonderful photo by justmeina .
