Hi there! I'm really interested in getting a rat, i have a previous large cage for guinea pigs and rats, so i'm set there, but is the upkeep expensive? My mom goes into rages about how expensive it is, so thats mainly the reason why were not getting one.. so please reply!!! thank you!!

sorry it took a few months to relpy to this, and its probably too late.. but I'll answer you anyways haha. The upkeep isn't too expensive, all you really need to buy is food and bedding (but I usually just used shreded paper for that). Its a lot of work though, you have to clean the cages regularly and remember to change the water and food every other day. Thats why I haven't gotten a new one since then
