There is a link to download this picture, but I'm not sure if that means I am allowed to use it. It's so pretty. I would love to use it as the header on my blog (with credit obviously). Would that be okay?

Usually I don't allow my images to be used in other websites, but since you're kind enough to ask (most people would use it without even bothering to ask), then it's ok to use it on your blog.
When you use it, can you send me a link from your blog?

Sure! As it's only the header image, which is restricted to a size smaller (and more narrow) than your photo, I would be using a cropped piece of the photo. However, my plan is to acknowledge you as the source in the About section, with a link through to the DeviantArt page showing the whole photo.

Beautiful colors! I'm very curious how this was achieved...

Thank you
This is just oil and water mixed in a transparent cap, placed on the back side of a CD. The 'trick' here is to place the light at the right angle, so you'll have no distracting reflections but also to get the colours that you desire. This was shot with a macro lens directly from above, and if I remember good, the light was placed 45 degrees to the right and relatively low.

Thanks so much for the explanation! I want to try something like this sometime. Perhaps soon, my D90 should be in the mail tomorrow, and I know I'll be doing many more photo projects!
