Image created for the cover of 3Dworld #176. I was asked to create a 'stone head in a jungle' for a landscape themed issue. I started with some sketches for approval, then created the image using Maya, Mental Ray, ZBrush, Onyx, SpeedTree and Photoshop. Was a lot of fun to do, and I was of course honored to be asked!Related content

Reminds me of my favourite childhood movie of all time, "Never Ending Story". Nice film too!
Now I'm an adult, I like blood, gore, tons of violence, and the occasional sex.
Might watch a kids film (I'm actually writing one at the moment called "Kung Fu Panda 3: The Path of The Rising Sun"), or Shrek... BUT BRING ON RAMBO! etc.

This looks so realistic that I might have thought you're lying and that you traveled into a jungle in search of an undiscovered ruin. But logic doesn't like that idea. Amazing work.

That's a beautiful digital art... how the sun rays illuminate the totem, both shadows and lights are on it.
Even if half of the stone head is partly protected by sunlight, it's like the right eye emanates a few luminescence...mysterious...I love the plants ambience and the way the head creates a sort of ancient and mystical atmosphere. it's really a superb art.
