one of my biggest fears are completely losing my already bad and deteriorating eye sight, not being able to see the world around me anymore, so here’s Orchard if he grew two shrooms instead of one.

i wrote his backstory, by the way.
i'll put it below!

Orchard's backstory (keep in mind I'm not even close to being a writer and my English is never top notch)

Orchard passed away in his 20's, well over a hundred years ago. His loving family had him cremated and his ashes were scattered in his favourite spot, in the forest near the family house, as he spent most of his time there. He was loved around the village and mourned. His family either died or had to run away, leaving the family house abandoned.

His ashes ended up merging with the nature around him, which happened to be fly agarics, twigs, etc. - he started to take form again, in his original but now slightly altered body (the addition of a toadstool eye, shrooms growing on his body, and so forth.)

He returns to the family house on instinct, almost immediately after regaining his consciousness, to find it abandoned.
Chipped and faded paint, high grass and other greens running up the sides of what was once a beautiful red house. Moss covering the partly collapsed roof, tragic to see.
Orchard enters what used to be his home, and is struck with great grief.
Realizing he is all that is left, he keeps photographs of him and his family, and what is left of their belongings. He wanders off into the forest to what'll be his new home (his cabin.)

The name Orchard is a nickname that was given to him by an English speaking traveler, one of the first lost people he saved and sheltered at his cabin. It's unknown why exactly he chose to call him this, but it stuck with him (Orchard) and helped convince him to help more lost people/souls out there. Seeing as he made a great and positive impact on the traveler.
After being "reborn" he did regain his memory, even with some fragments lost here and there, they came back with time. He does remember his real name, but chose to put it aside, possibly because it reminds him of his family, causing him to grieve.

He was chosen to become a Guardian of the Forest, given his dedication and love for nature when he was first alive. During his short life, he spent much time studying and caring for the nature around him, befriending all sorts of animals, gardening... He was known for his passion of nature and kindness towards other people in the village. Always listening to others and helping out.
His death was a great loss to the community and he was told about for generations to children and young adults, always portrayed in a positive light. Even without wealth or huge success, he lived his own dream, it made him a good example and praying to him was said to give good luck.

Today he is a type of spirit. A helpful and caring Guardian of the Forest, and people. Providing shelter for lost travelers, unlucky people and those wounded. He chose to continue living his dream, always residing in the forest, doing positive things in the name of his family...
