I see this doleful expression on people waiting for a bus.
To me, it is the exact expression one of my teachers had during recreation when everyone had to go outside to get fresh air, even when it rained. We were all bunched up under the overhang of the entrance waiting for the bell. His was a mixture of exasperation, resignation and haughtiness all rolled in one!Β
