A poem is a city filled
with streets and sewers,
Filled with saints heros
beggars madmen,
Filled with banality
and booze,
Filled with rain and
thunder and periods of
drought,
A poem is a city at war,
Its a barber shop filled
with cynical drunks,
A poem is a city,
A poem is a nation
A poem is the World.

I noticed the Dylan vivitar, and had to check out who's behind it. Very cool gallery. This one especially.
How do you usually approach the homeless?

thanks. for the top photo i was far enough away that i just used a big lens, the three below that i asked, and the bottom one i took without the person noticing.

alrightey. I'd really like to take some photos of interesting looking people I see on the street: the homeless, street vendors etc.. but so far I haven't had the courage to approach them.
that's why I was interested.

actually i feel a lot less intimidated by these guys than regular sane people. i think if you ask they won't mind. you might have to spare a dollar though

ok. that's it. I'm gonna try and find courage as well.
I guess the worst thing that can happen is that these people say no.

It's a nice set, it shows variety while pretty much summing it all up and being in common...
the b&w is good, and the focus in each shot is good as well
nice work!

well if you think of a better way let me know. i don't really want to post them individually just cause i don't want to fill my gallery up with homeless people.

I really like the b/w feel... was this via film/camera/software?

i shot these with my digital camera, but they were all b/w originally with the exception of the top photo. it was just a b/w setting on the camera.

Oh, just wondering. I really like the richness of it, that's why. And I know you can get a different feel according to those criteria.

They're all fantastic photographs and put together perfectly. Black and white was a perfect choice, it captured the mood.

Your choice to shoot this picture in black and white gives it a sort of stark flair.
I like how you arranged the pictures in a sequential kind of format.
