heh..yup ..yet another style.....dont like the front leg...I guess the unique thing about this picture is its almost completely black, but you can still make out where and head neck and legs are with the little shading there is....also helpful for hiding thoose little conformational mistakes
....no refernces, yet again....it looks more like a fell than a friesian...
for someone who loves friesians alot i dont tend to draw them that often.....

Friesie! I like this one a lot...maybe just because it's a Friesian, but I like how the highlights were done. It adds depth to the image. I've avoided drawing Friesians mainly because of the solid black coat. My drawings always tended to look horrible, what with its flatness and all. Although I suppose they would have been good pictures of a Friesian after being sat on by an elephant or somesuch...
Ah, anyhow, the coloring and shading on this is done wonderfully. Good job.

Curse you...now I'm curious. I just spent a good chunk of study time on searching the web for any possible photos of an albino Friesian.
...and of course, the only albinos I could find were Friesian sheep and cows. -_-;

tips for drawing Friesians; they have high head carriage, this makes them look more spirited and seperates them from Fell and Dales horses.
they have very chunky legs, but not so chunky boddies.
they have profuse manes, tails and feathers.........but I think you already knew that one

never really thought about the high head carriage before....*thinks about all the millions billions of photos looked at of freisian horses* o yer.......i shouldve done a skinnier stomach and longer legs, that wouldve have defiatly lessened the pony look for sure, o well....dont have anything against ponies....

perdy and i like the style its more canvas like. i think the prob is that everything looks so compact, maybe i u widen the chest more so that leg doesnt look like its rubbing the other, some with the back the legs seem to hitting each other. he may look like a fell but besides other then friesians fells are too cute, there like mini friesians

I was thinking a Shetland XD Still cute. You're right, the front right leg does look a little odd... I think the knee ain't thick enough or something. =] You did an amazing job with the black shading, and I love this style! It looks like oil pastels and even kinda acylics. And it looks like it was put on canvas. Lovely!

I like how, as you mentioned, you can still make out the shape of things if you just know what horses look like. Good style. Friesans are very beautiful black horses, especially they're wavy manes

Oh, totally, no problem. Who doesn't draw on their mood? lol. That's how styles develope I would think. But anywho, guess what I saw when I went to Wal-Mart? lol. I picked up a horse mag just because and their main topic was Fell horses. You should check it out they have some cool pics to draw from!
