Description    I am so happy to have finally had the time to make my very first ever poseable art doll

I mean, really, REALLY happy   Three weeks of a few hours here and there and - Ta Dah!

Don't get me wrong, there are several things about the design and making process which I feel could be improved upon, and I am ultra self-critical about the work that I do. Honestly, perfectionists have it easy!

But ultimately, as a first attempt I'm fairly happy with how this fluffy, candy-cane themed dragon turned out

Also, I had to include a picture or two of him with his little clay counterpart   irresistible!

Constructive criticism is always welcome, but especially so seeing as this is my first attempt.

This is such a beautiful art doll! I love how sweet it looks, almost literally since the horns and claws really do look like candy cane It's so gorgeous! It would be awesome to see more from you. Great work <3

Thank you so much for your kind words

To be honest I've had so much stiff happen since Christmas 2015 that art has fallen by the way-side.... stressful job, death in the family, new job and now, currently relocation! but I'm looking forward to setting up my new craft-room in the house  right now, everything is in boxes!

So cute!! I love the candy cane horns and claws! The fur on the back also reminds me of chewy mint candy. xD I plan on doing some food themed dolls one day~
As far as criticism goes, I don't see anything that needs improvement. (: I think it would look more interesting if the stripes went a little further down on the sides of the body, and if the stripes on the tail went completely around it.

Thank you so much for the kind comment  I'd have liked to add a bit more detail but I wasn't happy with the accuracy of the dying process so I thought it was best not to ruin it.

I'd love to see some food-themed dolls from you  you must keep me posted!

I've been pretty absent from DA recently - a lot of stress from work - but I have been gradually working on a snow leopard X sabre tooth cat art doll  It was going pretty well but I stalled after becoming unhappy with the feet. I couldn't find any appropriate material for paw pads so I've been using fur, but I don't think it looks/feels right.

You're welcome! I've never colored faux fur before but it sounds pretty messy from what I've heard.

If you really like dolls you should watch or join posableartdolls.deviantart.com… I always share my dolls here. (:

Ah, yeah life likes to get in the way of art. Hmmm, I've never made fabric feet before but I especially like the feet Eviecats did on this doll: fav.me/d9tnyqk It's like thin stretchy fabric with metallic printed spots.

I think youve done a splendid job with this one!!! And I cant believe its your first one! Your super great!! I love the color combination and how soft it looks. I just wanna hug it! <333333

Thank you so much for taking a look (you are a great inspiration of mine!) I'll be honest, it isn't as soft as it looks - more fuzzy to feel really. But I did order some great new fur which is very soft, and pretty life-like, so I plan to have lots of fun with that!  Although I mostly just look at it sadly in the evenings because I can't seem to find the time around work!

By the way, on a side note, I know you're making fantastic equine pose-ables at the moment, but I was just thinking yesterday how amazing a wendigo or chupacabra would be if it was born from your style and imagination - what do you think?

Aaaw but fuzzy is good too! You will have to try give yourself some time here and there to start.

Hahaha yeah I have kinda become the equine specialised artist here. XD I dont even know how it happened really, or, its cause when I wanna stress down from something I sit down with a piece of clay and just let my mind wander while I sculpt and then I make horses, always horses. XD I love horses so I guess Ive just gotten stuck on them, and since I never get tired to make them no matter how many Ive already done. Haha
When you say wendigo do you mean the stag monster thingy? And the chupacabra is that the rabid dog with no fur kinda?

My brain itches when I don't have enough time to get arty

My friend loves horses too, all her artwork begins life as a horse (even if it doesn't end like it!) My mum has always had horses (we had 9 at one stage) so I've spent a large proportion of my life up close and personal with them. which can be painful....

The chupacabra (goat sucker) is described as a scaley dog-like creature with fangs but the wendigo (I think) is a little more varied  I just thought the idea of a creature devouring the anger and sorrow of other lifeforms only to feel hungrier and get a bigger appetite... may appeal to your artistic taste

Awww so cute. uvu I really like the candy cane idea for the claws and horns! Very unique~ I'd love to see some more of that color pattwerning on the fur next time, especially in the face. ovo

Thank you I know what you mean, I did want to add a little more detail but I bowed to peer pressure  my other half liked it just the way it was - but I will certainly be making some more with better, more complex patterns in future, I hope you get to see them too.

Well done - the first is always the worst (you know with trial and error anomalies) but the structure looks great and fully poseable.. You should be proud

Thank you, you are right,  but yes, I'm reasonably proud with my first attempt - definitely learnt a lot, and I've had some fantastic new, realistic fur arrive that I'm eager to use (it doesn't shed like the first type I used)

Awesome!!!
It looks totally fluffy and cute!!!! I love it

Did you use a utorial or something for making it?

Kisses *3*

Thank you! I'm really pleased you like it!

I have wanted to make one for more than a year, and during that time did find a few tutorial to read  problem is, I wasn't looking for guidance as to how to use the wire and clay parts, its the fur-adding and dyeing bit which had me stumped. Most tutorials I found were mostly focussed on the wire/clay bit which was a shame.

I didn't follow any one tutorial during this process, but I do hope to re-track down at least some of the ones I found to post links on here soon

The fur bit is purely at a trial and error stage
