Plus the EG humans have the same names as ponies, and cutie marks when the cross into Equestria. These characters have human names and no cutie marks.

I made a theory about this. And it feels like it might make sense

They might be from an alternate universe where My Little Pony is a show and they all enjoy watching it. Until one day they mysteriously find themselves in Equestria, either by being sucked into their TV or going through some inter-dimensional portal, with little memory of who they are but with some knowledge of Equestria from what they've seen from the show. At least that's what I figure might be the case here.
