Yeah, the big asteroid motherbases of the "Nora Nurula Deep Space Ultraheavy Engineering Corporation" decommissioned those ships in the 340th century, a shame if you ask me. But, seriously, I'm also all retro- futuristic, and always liked to design something like this. Glad you liked it !Β

Oh, yay, a spaceship!

The look reminds me of Starmade(Minecraft in space) and the tail fins reminds me of KSP.

Heh heh.

KSP - that sounds like a gap to fill! Sadly, there's never enough time in this world to draw the spaceships you want to draw (let alone to build and fly them). But I really felt like doing this one, and I intend to do some more in the future - heh heh!

Indeed. And sorry about massive inactivity, had to go deal with the nightmare realm known as 'Real Life'.

I hear you, brother. This "real life" distracts me a lot lately. Hopefully, there will be an update soon.

Real Life version 2.1 hopefully retains some of the good features of RL 1.0, such as no monthly fees, well rendered NPCs, and decent resolution graphics.

As well as cutting out some of the bad bits players suggested.

Thanks a lot! If you think this is awesome, wait till you see the finished version, assembled in low Earth orbit in less than 900 years... Oh wait... well this is probably as good as it gets !

Thanks a lot, I am glad you liked it!

Somehow I had for quite some time in the back of my head the story idea of a couple that steals a private deep space exploration and survey vessel. The ship's propulsion core (reconstructed by a team of archaeologists) is vastly of alien design, and the baroque mechanism of how this vessel warps space time is poorly understood at best.

As this couple decided to live in this rather small vessel for quite some time, they reshaped and redesigned the Moonwort by and large after their private taste, including an archery area/ shooting range, a botanical garden and orchid fern house in the life system deck, a Turkish bath and Finnish sauna in the living quarters, many guest rooms for potential friends and followers and so on... ( alexine-pankhurst.deviantart.c… ).

The story sounds quite interesting. I think the couple should have a strong motivation to make such a move like stealing the ship, leaving their former lives behind.

Motivation...ehm... oops, I knew I forgot something . Seriously, the story is at the moment still at a very preliminary state and is competing with other ideas. On the other hand, any opportunity to draw a star ship was very welcome! Β

You're right; spacescapes and spaceship design are wonderful areas of art. Surely you have favorite artists on this subjects. Two of mine are Juan Gimenez and Chris Foss.Β

I LOVE Chris Foss. I also have a great fancy for all those mighty artists of the 70's, such as Jim Burns, Les Edwards, Bob Layzell, Chris Moore, Cesare Regiani, but most of all Peter Elson. I wouldn't have started drawing star ships if it wasn't for him!

And, coming back to Chris Foss, his amazing influence was beautifully described by Alastair Reynolds in his blog: approachingpavonis.blogspot.ch…

That blog entry is quite good. Thanks! I'm familiar with Jim Burns and Peter Elson work; I'll do an image search of the other artists you mentioned.Β
