This is a fascinating piece of work. I especially like the tone set by the desaturation to black and white and the mild retention of color in the ship. The bottom third of the picture is where the eye is drawn. I am curious as to why you'd place the action in this piece below the lower third, thereby leaving so much background... 50% of the picture. This confuses the eye somewhat, making the viewer wonder what they should be focussing on. On a final note, I find the bright light a distraction and it is not entirely clear what it is, or if it has a purpose. Superb photomanipulation though.

Absolutely astounding, I don't think I've seen anything like this; not everyday you see a "giant"thawed out due to global warming. It seems almost curious what the tiny little thing that floats on the water is. The glaciers and clouds seem flawless, and the ship is wonderfully drawn out.

Though it didn't have much of an impact on me myself, it is still an amazing piece as a whole. The creature could have a lot more done to it though, something about it is just... off. It's mostly the torso and forearm, you may want to check into that. Maybe add a bit more highlights to the right side of the forearm and give the body a more dynamic contrast, to make the creature stand out just a little bit more. The arms and legs would also look better if you thickened them a bit, if you were to ever recreate this piece I hope you take these things into consideration. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

Again, this is truely an amazing piece, nearly everything about it just leaves me awe-struck. Keep up the good work!

First of all I would like to tell about the huge impact this piece made on me.
It literally took my breath away.
The piece is so beautifully made. It feels so real, you can really feel the size of the titan because of the size difference between that and the boat. All the details in this are so real ! it almost feels like you’re present in the piece.
Something has just awakened and even though the colors seem dark and cold they give you the feeling of something new.
And, I must say, that I love the thought of titans laying in β€œslumber” underneath the ground (in this piece, ice). e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)" />
I also love how the titan works at some sort of lighthouse.
Alexius, I must say, I think, that this is one of you more amazing pieces.
The significance of you work and you technique, just perfect. All I could do is to give this piece five stars each !

I was immediately drawn to your rendering the moment I saw it. It's breath-taking, yet a little flat; the circular light at the very centre of the image contributes to this... It is also possible...the lack of shadows on the Mountain dulls its effect, and there is no sense of depth and perspective as it reacts with the clouds in the background. I think you might need to add more negative spaces to the piece -- the top left corner is focusing too much attention -- shadows will help, as I said before. Overall, it's an impressive work of art. I've never seen anything quite like it. I do question the colour of the Trawler; perhaps you should grey-scale it. The mist blankets the mid-ground perfectly.

It's something to be very proud of...I hope to see more.

Where do I even start to begin describing this extraordinary piece of art? I can't believe you drew this, it's incredible! What I love most is the giant figure looming over the small and unsuspecting ship, it brings fear and mystery. What also is a great fact about this drawing is that every part of it, the clouds, ice mountain, ship, water, monster, etc. all fit in to the drawing, they're all so detailed and realistic, and they blend into each other perfectly. I can't look at a single part of this picture and say that it was drawn, or it's too simple/detailed for the rest of the picture. It's all completely perfect, and what makes it even more amazing is that you've finished this in a week! Keep the breathtaking drawings commin e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)" />

World of Titans By Alexiuss is an amazing piece of art wich set's a dark and misterious mood with a verry original concept. Just watching the comparison between the monster and the little ship makes you wonder if they survived on their way home.
The tecnique is flawless, the hole body of the monster fits with the terror it should give, and the landscape, as well as the little ship shows an incredible work with detail.

The place reminds me of the first people who went to the south pole back in 1800 and 1900

Trully an amazing piece of artwork with a lot of suspense

Being such a large piece, gathered from the artist's comments, there are so many small details that take more than one viewing to find - such as the tiny birds flying off both the Titan and the boat, as well as the Vitaly's signature and website cunningly disguised on the boat. This is a nice feature in many of Vitaly's artwork, as instead of the 'signature' standing out awkwardly from the piece, thus obscuring it and ruining some of the effect, it is somehow worked into the picture itself, which makes it both fun to find and a blessing for copywrite purposes!

Aside from the detail in this picture, we are presented with an awesome sense of scale, even though a relatively simple perspective is used - the extension of the piece to include not only the entire mountain but the clouds and even sky above that really hits it home just how massive the Titan is, which made it far more striking for me than if it had been cut any shorter. However, the clouds do appear slightly linear, all being much the same height, which could have been a result of trying to get them to fit in the piece - but that would be my only quarrel with them, as they are otherwise amazingly rendered.

The only other thing that struck me as a little off was the snow in front of the mountain/glacier - whereas to the right it appears to drift up to the cliff-face, in front it seems a bit set aside and distant from the rocks. Although this is probably because it is a 'dune' of snow or other such formation that falls in front of the mountain as opposed to up against it, it still looked a little strange to me. Otherwise, it is again excellently executed.

When I first viewed this piece, this struck me as being very original, while not necessarily for the fantasy genre, but for Vitaly's work - it seems as though he is stretching and pushing himself to do something different, and for a week's work on something new and exciting, this piece really shines. I am not sure whether a particular theme or message is being put across here - aside from the obvious possibility of climate change - but the mood and sense of tension and expectation is palpable, the Titan's single 'eye' appearing to stare beyond the painting and into us.

As a final note, and something that I only spotted while writing this critique - I suddenly noticed a large, strange shadow inside the glacial mountain behind the Titan that got me excited, as it seems that our new colossal friend could not be alone for much longer! So the wonderful plot and story of this astounding artwork deepens.
