looks really good, and the arm positions works fine, as a professional level Diver I've been on a lot of pitching large to mid size dive boats and this positions works just fine for a bow rise cresting a large roller.. trust me, been there!

well You got it down, you spend a lot time bending and flexing with the movement! .. your not going to be so! "superheroish" as your sailor here holding an axe and all, but if thing got rough really quick and they can. then you could very well end up in just the position he's in.

i like, but think would have been better if his left arm was straight and looked like it was hanging onto the rope with more pressure, no1 grabs a rope with a bent arm, still good though

Well...technically...lol
He's already grabbed it, and in order to pull oneself forward, the arm bends and the muscles tense. That's how you get the definition in the bicep muscles.
Trust me...
I've climbed a lot of ropes. xD
Plus the sway of motion in the pic allows the viewer to get the feeling the boat is in motion. It lurches forward, everything on-board shifts backwards. The motion in this pic is great in my opinion.

Since the ropes are taut at the bottom, couldn't he have grabbed it and be pulling himself up/forward by the handful of ropes?
