Hawkeye paused mid-sentence at Aris' unexpected interruption, mouth hanging a little slack. "...come again?"
"Jager's not going to cheat on his nonexistent romance with Nez, Pasha is too much the gentleman, I would sooner kick Cosmic's head in than allow him within ten feet of me, so it has to be you."
"You want me to...?"
"Did I stutter?" Aris snapped, voice a little too.
Hawkeye snapped his mouth shut, then eyed her a moment before nodding. "Yeah, alright."
Without further ado Aris stepped back from the fence.
"What, now?"
Her glare could have melted stone. Mentally shrugging, Hawkeye backed up and cleanly leapt the fence.

It was fast, and equal parts enthusiastic and embarrassing.

Three weeks later she was allowed out into the communal pasture. Hawkeye galloped over and slid to a stop just shy of hitting her. "Jesus, Arista, you could have just told me you were infertile."
Rather than get mad, attack, do anything else he was expecting her to do, Aris started giggling. "The look on your face was priceless."
He frowned.
"Oh, lighten up. I needed those idiot humans to loosen my leash. It's not like it was a surprise to me."
"Arista…”
His hurt tone did nothing to stay her laughter. "What, did I hurt your pride in your virility? Don’t worry, it was fast, but very enthusiastic. Six out of ten.”
“Hey! You enjoyed it too.” A smile curled at the corner of his mouth against his best efforts.
“Oh yes, there’s nothing quite like being humped.” She said drying, glancing out from under her forelock and fluttering her eyelashes ridiculously. “I live to be humped.”
He gave in and laughed, posture relaxing. “Can I at least call you Aris now?”
Aris considered a moment before nodding. “I think you’ve earned that right, Hump Boy.”
“Hey!”

Quickie (ha!) picture to advance their story. I haven't been able to make this clear before now but in actuality Hawkeye's already been at DWR for a bit over six months. These two have been having semi-hostile encounters on and off, but no one can deny there's some chemistry there.... /winkwinknudgenudge

Let's just christen this The Incident That Shall Not Be Named and move on, shall we?
