I was inspired to do this when I recently bought the song "Amazing Grace" played by The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Which is the song played on Bagpipe. I always thought the bagpipes sounded so beautiful when playing this song. Try and find and listen to it when you can.The creature is a lioness. It was originally going to be a pose practice on ~PacksandPrides character Mia but then.. it kinda... changed... XD
I don't know exactly what it represents. Perhaps the lion has died and its spirit is rising to heaven and its taking its last grasp of Earth. You can decide what you believe it means.
Started this pic on the 10th and completed it today, the 13th. Altogether took around 6-8 hours.

I'm not typically a big fan of religious music, but I have a copy of the bagpipe version that you are talking about. It is one of the most beautiful, haunting things I have ever heard. Done well, bagpipe music is some of the most soulful music there is. If you haven't heard "Highland Cathedral," I highly recommend that song, too.

The pastel colors and soft lighting make the picture pleasant to look at. Your semi-lineless style is also rather interestingβ¦I've never seen digital art done directly over pencil. Heehee. Noice. :3
My critique lies in the coloring. The bluishβ¦glitteryβ¦shiny stuff kind of clashes with the lavender part of the background: it makes me want to avert my eyes, for some reason. Perhaps if you had made it white or something it would have turned out a tiny bit better.

I really feel like I'm sinking to your stalker's (wink) level when I'm saying this butβ¦CRAP those paws are amazing. I can't stop staring at the front right paw (the extended one), because it just looksβ¦brilliant. The hindquarters turned out extremely good, too. They seem to twist without looking odd. I have a habit of making that mistake. xD
Alsoβ¦those wingsβ¦ wonderful. I wished I could do wings like that. -_-;

It was a new style I tried out. I dunno what caused me to do it.
Oh, I do pencil lineart all the time. Usually I darken the line to make it look like ink or there's so much color you can't tell. Its fun and easy <83
Gah I know I hate that! I tried every color possible. I tried yellow, green, red, everything! Even white! It either blended in compltely or it hurt your eyes. The blue was the best effect out of all of it. I would have changed the BG color but I liked it.
Next time I'll keep all this in mind XD

Awww yay! I was practicing on poses when i did this. I'v been in a pose mood lately. But in the poses I try to make thm as anatomy correct as possible. So I'm glad you think I succeeded X3

(I'm sorry this comment is late, but I haven't had time to comment on everything and I wanted to leave a good comment on this one, so...)
I really like this. =3 Just... let me be blunt and to the point XD Seeing as I'm so tired right now I doubt I can be much otherwise. I think I have that version of Amazing Grace on my computer... though I can't be sure. I've definetely got a Scottish version, but I'm not quite sure who it's by. XP I've also got Scotland the Brave, though it's kind of a short version and I still don't know who it's by. Not... that that little tidbit of information has anything to do with... well, anything. 8D;
I love the pose of this. And... even though it's kind of hard to tell what the symbolism is behind this, seeing as you don't rightfully know yourself, I still think it's really cool. I like how the lion looks... almost a bit playful in it's pose. She, (I'm only assuming it's a she XD; I wouldn't really know), doesn't look happy, though, nor sad.. just sort of content. Like... like I dunno. XD But I really like this.

There are several version in Scottish on bagpipe. I know they played it on bagpipe at, I think it was, President Reagan's funeral. (I really don't recall which President cept Ford but I know it wasn't him.. this was a few years ago) Anyway, yeah XD
