"Why Creator? Why the pain?"I haven't drawn Irkivian Garin in awhile so I figured, why not now?
Oh yeah, and just in case a lot of people are confused, my character Garin has 2 different versions - a fan version and an original version . These are technically two totally different characters.
I was actually initially inspired to do this pic after reading =TheDarkestPrince 's Dementia story. Then while I was working on some concepts for Calestine Princess. The quote above is actually spoken by novel/original Garin while he is in his Calestine form. It was the only thing he was able to say besides calling out "Mother!" repeatedly.
I had drawn novel Garin in Calestine form a few times but never Irkivian/fan version so I wanted to just try him out. Thought I haven't really been into doing a lot of art for him. I prefer drawing things that is 100% made by me. I kinda feel like I'm ripping off Jhonen or something when I draw an Irken (or half Irken) char. So, yeah. Fan art just isn't appealing to me anymore.
No crits on anatomy. Those branch-like spikes coming out of his back are normal, his body is supposed to be slightly contorted, and his legs are supposed to seem rather strange looking. Garin is primarily plantigraded so he doesn't walk or stand correctly when the Calestine turns him digitigraded.

I was a little weirded out by the legs, but I realize that yeah, he's a bit hunched over, not quite on his knees, but almost there. But yeah. XD;
Very well done. The emotion is very strong and the mist makes it even more... emotional. Very well done.

Yeah, both versions of Garin typically have those distorted legs. He can't even stand up at all without holding onto something *points to the wall/beam thing he's holding onto* XD

Woooooooooogh. I'm feeling nauseous and ghosty pains just looking at the blood and thinking of the pain and the ooooooooogh. I watched a show earlier that involved wings sprouting out from the body so I compare the spines to that oooogh... oh god.

You have absolutely no idea how many pictures I've drawn that are bloody and/or morbid. (Take this picture for example (please remember the fact that this an old picture so the quality is...depressing xD): [link] It's of my Shadow-Ghost Irken, Iprolli--a character with such a freaky story that I never told anyone on deviantART about)
I will not find you weird if you post pictures like this up here. I am normally a cheery little girl that dresses in pink or light blue and's main goal in life is to go on stage and make people laugh, and I still end up drawing pictures like that. All of them have some sort of meaning to me that no one else may understand, but I WILL NOT find you weird or anything if you draw pictures like this one. ...Okay, that was all I had to say that was serious.

After reading that 'Mother' bit I must ask; Are the 'adult' images of Garin just him in an aged body or actually an adult? Because I remember you saying he ages quickly, so him looking adult but only saying 'Mother' lead me to beleive that he is still a baby in those pictures. Hope what I just babbled isn't confusing. XD
But the is very lovely, especially the subtle shading and light effects. Good job, even though I wanna see more of 'original Garin'...cuz he be cooler. BD

Well, Garin is technically only 4 months old but he would be equal to a 15-17 year old. I think all pictures of Garin I have posted here (aside from A Mother's Defense ) are basically him beng full grown or "adult" like you said. He's basically always a child inside, though, as you could possibly say he never will "grow up" or mature due to this defect. He's somewhat like a mentally retarded person in some ways, since a lot of these people still act like young children, but they can't help it. Garin is, in a way, like that.
So it's not abnormal for him to just fall down on the floor crying for his mother when in great distress, being while he's young or full grown. Plus, he has a deep connection with Nelthilta, his mother of course, so if anything were to happen to her he would continue to scream out for his mother like any normal child would.

Wooow Garin's calestine in irken form looks alot more serial and dark for some reson.. though that might be because his head is square and alot less detailed then the other design (that's not a bad thing btw
