Description Pictured Above: Ultramarines  Veteran Legionary clad in Arkonak pattern Terminator Armour.

Arkonak pattern Terminator Armour was a rare pattern of Tactical Dreadnought Armour even during its inception during the Horus Heresy. It is essentially a prototype of the later developed Tartaros pattern with visible modifications that share many systems with the Mark IV 'Maximus' pattern of power armour. Originally developed during the closing years of the Great Crusade, and adapted from the heaviest of industrial gear, several types and patterns of Tactical Dreadnought Armour were developed concurrently. None of these patterns however, including the Arkonak pattern were ever widely disseminated amongst the Space Marine Legions.

The constant state of development and active field testing during this era saw the rapid development of the Arkonak pattern Terminator suit. Like its eventual successor, the Arkonak pattern provided greater mobility for its wearer than the Indomitus pattern, with no loss of durability or protection. Of the shared characteristics between the Arkonak and Maximus patterns the most obvious were subtle, including the armour on the back of the Arkonak pattern's legs as well as the vambrace and gauntlets being of similar aesthetic appearance.
