Awesome photo! I only discovered your gallery yesterday and I have become a huge fan of your macro photography! I envy the equipment you are using!
May I ask you to explain what you did? You said stacking 55 shots, do you mean focus stacking?? If so, that would rather make me happy, since I must do that too to aquire some decent DoF, but I never had 55 shots of one subject so far and it means that even with (one of) the best lenses the process of getting a photo are still similar.

Hello

1st, thank you for the nice words & your compliment
As for the techique I've been using, yes.. it's Foucus Stacking. With lenses that have focus rings, all you have to do is taking pictures at different docuses using the ring. With reverse lenses/MP-E65 where you don't have a focusing ring.. You need to get a rail for that which will allow you to get the shots at different foucsing levels by moving the camera forward/backword.
Hope this explain the way for you.

Cheers

Yes it does, thank you
I use reversed lens technique, but my lenses focus ring is still usable, even reversed. I just can't do it in the outside world, since I am holding the camera in my hands there (so far). I don't have a rail yet, but am amazed that you can fine adjust it to get 55 different focus levels on such a tiny object.
Btw, I suggested this as a DD, but you got one too recently. I know this would be DD worthy though, if there weren't the time restrictions!

this is beautiful- there is no way to cut it more than saying that. I would have never even thought to imagine that ants had such an amazing texture on their body- as well as the fine hairs. It reminds me to to take everything in- because too many people pass though loife without admiring the beauty in the smallest things.

I'll upload more soon

Woooow, great!! That's some incredible Magnification? Did you use microscope lenses and a bellows?
Really wonderful work!

Great,
I didn't expected it to be "just" up to 5:1. Great work and lot's of preprocessing I think.

There wasn't a lot of PP on this one.. most of the PP applied whenever i'm facing transparent/white hairs...

As you can see with this one.. it was hairless

Sorry, but I can't.... the Top of it's head isn't showed .
I am trying some stacking for myself, but often get fringes due to small shakes from the camera or object.
Really cool macros!!

AlHabshi In reply to SAchilles [2011-11-19 18:07:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, It was a combination of MP-e65 + Raynox250 and a small crop been applied if i remember correctly...
Apology as sometime i can't recall all the equipments i've been using with all my works. I'll post some works using Microscpoe Obj + bellows later

Are you into macro/micro photography as well?
