Dracomon was the first card made for Digimon Battle Evolution (Base Release #000) and it always bothered me how ugly it looked. I was using a generic render from the unrigged model in T-Pose, which is very jarring for card art. Since I'm going back through each card to remake their art (slowly), I figured it was time to hit the mascot of the game. For this, it should be special. So I spent all day on this Dracomon, doing significant edits and upscaling to the textures, color grading it exactly with the Bandai art, posing it like the Bandai art—which I realized is in an orthogonal view—and rendering it way up in 4K res. For post-processing, I spent hours manually painting the shadows and highlights on the final art such that it would look as striking as the Bandai style, with more flair for my taste, and ensuring the final looked good in CMYK for when I print.
