I just hate it when you can't get the river styx out of your head....damn mind. Very intresting view of what could be. I like the colors...if you haven't looked at his stuff: try H. Bosch (famous painter)....you'll like it.

This is so moving and atmospheric! I once heard that the underworld was a place that anybody can get out of, but once you're there, you just don't have the will. That's kinda what this reminds me of (amongst other things) - as if the blue angel is someone who has almost made it, but not quite.....
Definately a fave for me!!!

the tension in the painting is perfect! As well as the story lying in there. I find myself wondering, Is this an angel being drawn in after its fall from grace? Is it pershaps a soul desending or escapeing from hell? All i know is that the work is beautifully excecuted (sp?). I'm draw in by the colors, and i stay for the imagery!

Very good. I love the upper figure and the group of skeletons too, but I think there's too much colour in it and that it would have looked better if the colour had been more faded/dazed.

Goregous painting. I like the symbolism and the rich, vibrant colors. I just swtiched from acrylics to watercolors. Do you have any suggestions?

Suggestions.. hmm..
Always paint on watercolor paper or at least one thats sturdy.. it's a pain in the ass when paper wrinkles up from painting. I wouldn't try jumping in and actually painting objects or anything at first.. just mess around on some scrap paper making random brush strokes with varying amounts of water with your paint. Try to get a feel for it cause it's pretty different from acrylics. Looking through a tutorial or something would probably help. I whined and complained in watercolor class when we had to just do random brush strokes and gradients, but I have to admit it was really helpful

I really love the colors and brush strokes behind the girl. The boldness of the black contrasts with all the colors nicely as well.

i love vertically composed pieces, this one incluced, and i love the separation of the colors, the above figure appears almost to be glowing, and yet you've simply outlined in white!

very expressive. i like the composition and the way the hovering angel really looks like she's glowing. is the other angel being sucked in, or is than an underworld denizen with wings in the bottom half?

I don't know if I can give you a straight answer about that. I have an odd way of working.. I almost never start with a complete concept in mind (or anything at all sometimes). That darker blue angel was a random squiggly kind of shape at first.. looked kind of like a medical sign.. can't really think of what it is at the moment, maybe the symbol for uh.. blue cross.. or something. I like to think that he's been given a second chance.. or that the glowing angel is restoring him but the other trapped souls keep pulling him back in.

The figure with wings started out as a strange little blue twisty.. kinda.. thing. lol There were lots of other shapes too, I just painted over them to see what I could make of them.
