Description Hooray I finally began painting again after three weeks of ignoring them due to my crappy paints! I bought a ton of more expensive artist acrylic paints, instead of those $0.59 Apple Barrel craft acrylic paint you can see in the background. xD; And wow was *hoikarnage right by saying that the more expensive paints are WAY better than the cheap ones! Apple Barrel is like coloured water compared to these! The ones I got now cost between $4 and $7 per tube. So now I am broke after spending my last $70 on paints!

Anyways! Here are some shots of my very first pony sculpt, Fluttershy, and my personal favourite and best so far, Princess Cadence! So sorry the photos look kind of orange, it's almost 2AM and theres only one little light in my craft room. xD

I gave Cadence a new coat of better quality pink, as the pink in the previous pictures of her was awful looking! Now I am trying to find a good mixed purple for her hair, so far I have tried two different mixes, just a bit darker should do the trick.

I hope you like them so far, I'll try not to disappoint with the final product!

Floral wire armature, Original Sculpey clay, Master's Touch brand acrylic paints, and Fimo brand Gloss coat.

did you just glue cadences wings and horn on after you painted them?

AlicornParty In reply to KittenLollipop [2013-10-26 23:33:23 +0000 UTC]

Yes I did. For her wings, I poked small holes in her back where the wire that is inside the wings would fit, and after I painted it all, I stuck the wings in the holes and put super glue on them to stay in place. The horn is just super glued onto her head after I painted it.

ok, good to know thanks! I've been wanting to do something complicated for a while, but i never really knew exactly how to put the pieces together effectively.

These are really great! I especially love the Cadence sculpt, the body shape is absolutely perfect! c: as for Fluttershy, I can't wait to see more shots of her!

What kind of clay you use? o:

Thank you very much! I tried really hard making Cadence's body look just right, and I'm glad to know I was successful!

I use Original Sculpey! I see that most people use Super Sculpey, but I personally haven't tried it since Original comes in bulk boxes for pretty cheap at the craft store!

You're welcome! c: I'd say that the only flaw to her body is her muzzle. :S

I heard that Super Sculpey tends to get way too soft to work with sometimes. I use Super Sculpey Living Doll clay, since it's the only good clay I can find around here. :/
