Description

'The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive  Ludwig II of Bavaria   but it was opened to the public immediately after his death in 1886. Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer. The palace has appeared prominently in several movies and was the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle and later, similar structures.'

I have a few architecture books this place is in. Every time I see a new photo of it, I look in awe. This is one of the nicest I think I have seen. Good job.

I don't think I have ever seen the Neuschwanstein at this angle before. Were you flying?

It is a beautiful castle! I took a tour through the castle and though the upstairs was closed off, it was still amazing throughout!!
The only pain was getting up there. Jeez, that was a tolling hike!

Great picture! Most pictures I have seen of Neuschwanstein was always set in winter time, so it's actually really nice to see the castle in a summer-sunset environment instead of the classic winter style. The picture actually feels quite relaxing and open to look at because it's taken from above ground (+ the colours are warm and smooth and well you can see the river)

Great photo!  The Castle of Castles!  But i've allways wondered if Neuschwanstein has ever seen battle in her past?!

Neuschwanstein Castle itself hasn't as it was intended as a personal retreat for  Ludwig II of Bavaria  however two twin medieval castles used to be where Neuschwanstein is now so it's likely they've seen battle ^^

There's a bridge a ways back that overlooks the castle. When I visited we got shots from there too, but this one is of course much more stunning.

Is this from the bridge behind the castle? Recently made my second visit, it shocked and awed me for a second time. Such a heartbreaking story of the dreamer king!

Awww, i hope that i visit this castle, when i was a child i had a puzzle with this castle and i was like "omg it's awesome, must go there." The only thing i'm afraid of is, that it won't be so epic like on that puzzle.
