Our new little puppy, Guppy. She's a papillon that we got from the Small Breed Rescue Association of East Tennessee. My beloved poodle/terrier, Wally, had to be put to sleep on August 1st because of kidney failure and heart disease. Guppy is expected to be between 3 and ten pounds when she's full grown. The chi in the background is my daughter's dog, Rupert.This will go into the scraps file in a bit.

Thanks! She's a wonderful dog. My first papillon, gotten from a rescue association. They thought she was a long-coat chihuahua. It was only as she got older that we realized she was a pap.

She is adorable Alicia, I have never seen this breed before. I know that the chihuahuas are very smart dogs...

They are an ancient breed developed by the Aztecs in what is now South America. I think these two chihuahuas we have are the smartest dogs we've ever owned!

Everyone has the ability to put photos in their scraps file. The way you do this is by clicking "no category" when you upload a deviation. Usually, people put photos in scraps when they feel like the quality of the photo, the subject, or the size of the image aren't suitable for their regular gallery. The disadvantage with putting something in scraps right away is that most people don't watch the scraps folder (there's a box to click in the friend management area) and so lots of us upload to our regular gallery and then move the photo to scraps later.

That is a cute photo. I'm so sorry about the loss of your poodle/terrier. We had to put our beloved Golden Retriever/Corgi mix to sleep in March because of cancer. We have rescued another Corgi mix from the SPCA.

Yes, it's a painful process, but as you know, sometimes necessary. Each of my dogs have been rescue dogs from humane associations because we're very committed to rescuing abandoned dogs rather than purchasing from puppy mills or pet stores. I'm so glad you did the same! We have owned six dogs over the years, including Guppy, and each has lived a long and happy life, and they were all wonderful family members!

It IS a painful process, but we feel the same as you, there are so many homeless pets in need of rescuing. Each of our dogs have been rescued too. Our cats are rescues as well and we have four of them at this time. I don't understand why someone would spend $50,000 to clone their dog when for about $150, you could get a bundle of love from the SPCA and rescue a dog! Thank you for your message.

I wasn't happy with the quality of the photo, primarily because I didn't have sufficient light. What I'd like to do is reshoot this again when there's more ambient light and replace it. Thanks for the comment! She is a precious little thing! Rupert (the black chi) thinks she's his toy.

That's a good thing. Did you know that there are rescue associations for practically any breed if you're wanting a purebred? Having Guppy has eased my heartache about losing Wally, and I'm sure a new dog will do the same for you!

Didn't really realize that although I knew there was rescue for greyhounds as a friend of mine volunteers for them. .I just may look into it.. I want one that looks as sweet as Guppy. Thank you for the info.
