Description These are used in training for American football...

Of course, I saw a parallel between what these are put through in practice and what often happens to us in life.

The title is from the Broadway musical, "Annie."

Hello there,

very nice picture, great with the sepia colours.
May I ask you if I may use it for a weblog of mine? I would have to alter it a little, though - but I would be glad if you said "yes". Of course I'd credit :>

Haha that's awesome! Great title and the sepia is excellent. They look a little like tilted crosses in an old cemetery too.

Great tones, there is something
kinda eerie, about the way they
lean forward...
Nicely Done.

Nice picture, Alicia!

Well, I think pushing those things aside is a job for really cool guys - I, however, would prefer to run thru the gap between them ...

Me, too! I'm not a big American football fan, but people here in Tennessee are crazy for the sport!

Ah, I see! It's the same here, Alicia - you only have to exchange American football by soccer! There are people in the neighborhood who have nearly everything in the colors of their favorite soccer club - including underwear and bed linen!

Yes. It's so funny! Here in Tennessee, everyone seems to love the American football team for University of Tennessee, which is a really obnoxious color orange. I promise you, the sky glows orange on game days!

I believe it!

Here in our Federal State (North Rhine-Westphalia) we have 7 out of 18 clubs of the German highest Soccer League, 3 of them are located within 15 miles from where I live. So the sky here is multi-colored, mostly yellow/black and blue/white. And you've no chance to escape from soccer fans - they're everywhere ...

I always liked watching the football players run at these things, my school had a contraption where these things were all welded onto this giant metal frame that could be moved if you hit it hard enough. The coach would stand on it and the team had to hit it and move it a certain distance before stopping. I got to watch all this fun from the stands where I would be rehearsing with the pep band ... woo pep band!

I like the sepia tones used in this shot, and the perspective is really nice. I also love your title/description, very fitting.

Thanks so much, Krystal. I, too, played in the high school band and often watched the football guys train.

what instrument?

French horn, back then. And, yes, we did march with them at that time. I later played clarinet in college, took contrabass in graduate school, flute after that, and have been a vocal performance major throughout it all! I have always been first and foremost a wind player. I am now working on my PhD in musicology, but I try to stay close to performance. What instrument did/do you play?

I also played the french horn (we usually marched with the fluegalhorn ... or however the h that's spelled, lol). I started out on trumpet but couldn't hit any high notes, so we tried me out on the horn, which I could play much better. And I loved it. I love it still to this day, it's my favorite sound, so mellow and perfect. I unfortunately didn't get through all the auditions for our college orchestra, and didn't have the time for the regular band (I would have squeezed my schedule for the orchestra, but the band wasn't that good, not really worth the time crunch I would have been in), so I stopped playing when I started college. And that's been four years now, I don't know if I'll ever really pick it up again, unfortunately. But who knows.

I also play the piano, though not very well, as I suck at reading the music and I really suck at left hand notes. I generally play by ear and memory, just to amuse every now and then, nothing serious. I generally have to settle with recorded music or performances of others. But that's often enough for me.
