Right now I'm reading Lord of the Rings in Spanish translation. I have made a deal with myself that all my pleasure reading (non-academic) will be in Spanish so that I can get my reading and comprehension skills up to snuff in preparation for my dissertation research. I've given myself the deadline of a year for this, but probably will extend it, seeing as how my dissertation writing will take a while.
I'll put it on my list, however!

Curious, why Spanish?

Well, true, but sometimes it does depend on the deadline. My topic is probably Novo-hispanic music, meaning music brought over from Spain to Mexico and other colonies by the catholic fathers and used in churches and cathedrals in the Americas. I won't go further, you'd be asleep before I finished a sentence, but for that I have to get my Spanish up to speed.
