Inspired by the musical "Bat Boy"! Its a fabulous musical that is actually a LOT like Edward Scissorhands. (Note the similar first names, even!
Love it!)Edgar is discovered in a cave nearby town, and the veternarian's family decides to take him in. Everyone blames him for the cattle dying and hates him in general for no apparent reason other than fear of the unknown. He is severaly uncultured and thinks he can fly. He has the most ridiculously amazing "retarded hands" in lew of wings. XD Anywayz, this is after they slowly teach him the ways of the world.
Funny part is that he ends up having a snotty brittish accent even though they're all clearly in some hick state in the mountains in America. XD I attribute it to him watching too much PBS. Oh yes, and he's such a dork. Lovable, but nerdy.
Oh, and Shelly is the daughter of the veternarian. They get into a romance.
I imagine this playful banter happening before they admit their feelings.

LOVE IT! I love Edger, he is like a big cuddle bunney with fangs and pointy ears. I lov the whay you drew this it represents him so very well. Bat Boy is my latest obbsesion and I can't get enough so thank you for drawing this lovley picture that I can look at when I have the need (or want) to do so!

I must let you know right now, I have searched FOEVER for some GOOD Bat Boy art and I have never found it until tonight!
Edgar is my favorite charcter and I LOVE HIM TO DEATH! He makes me happy....
I do love your's, especially the facial expressions and his clothes. I thought it was funny as hell that they are all in some hick town and he ends up with a British accent because of T.V... cracks me up every time!
I just love this and that's why I favorited it!
I would love to see more!

Thank you so much! Its so weird, I posted the art seemingly forever ago, but only recently have I recieved comments. I actually had a second Bat Boy art up, but because I used one of Makani's sketches heavily to remake it into a Bat Boy piece, I left it off. If you are interested, I could email it sometime.

EEeeeee, Edgars! ^-^ *joy!* (and comfort?)
I've only just recently seen the show (at a TINY little theatre - they did it with EIGHT people! Impressive, no?) after being a longtime WWW and BB fan, and it's currently my numbah-oonoh obsession. x3 The soundtrack arrived from Amazon.com yesterday and I am HAPPY! It's definitely one of my new favorite musicals... top three, definitely! So, so much love for Edgar! (Who is NOT an 'Animal', not a boy, but someone altogether wonderful and better. <3)
But this drawing is awesome too - just his expression is perfect! And pose and clothing-folds, but especially that adorable fangy little know-it-all smile. xD You just know he'd be teacher's favorite pet (if they ever found a school cool enough to let him in). And yer right, that's totally what he's saying. Har!
xD When I first saw this in the thumbnail I was like: 0_0 "Is he flipping someone off?" but knew that couldn't be right, Edgar wouldn't do that. ... Erh, be unable to control himself and bite them in the neck, maybe, but not flip them off. xD I doubt the Parkers would have taught him that particular hand gesture, anyway. (Rick, maybe.)

Thank you! I re-did an image of buttfacemakani's Pansy/Draco into a Shelly/Edgar if you are interested! Its le cute and I had it up here for a while, but I felt so bad and removed it because it was practically plagerizing. However, obviously, the characters are different. I can email it, etc, if you wanna.
Thank you so much for commenting on this drawing! No one does and I assume its because they don't know Bat Boy. I LOVE the musical, too! I really like the reprise where Edgar reveals he's discovered his belly button. XD So ADORABLE. But for gods sakes dont' even bother buying the original london version. Its crap. Its inneffective and the lyrics are terrible. You realize how far they came in creating the musical it is.

D: Speaking of, since I posted that comment, I tried to go see it again, but it was sold out! ;_; Sadness! I even made a glittery sign reading "HOLD ME, BAT BOY <3" in big bubble-letters that I was gonna wave during the opening and closing songs. ^_^; I'm such a geek.
It's sad that not many people seem to be privy to the AWESOMENESS that is BB - there's precious little fanart to be found here! ;_; Oh. xD But if yer in the mood for random fanart and ye like that little "Look here, I've got a navel!!!1one" reprise, check out my recent scraps. ^_^; I think ye'll be happy. And yeah, that is one of THE most adorable moments in the whole darn show, up there with "a home for you" and "show you a thing or two". n_n Bat Boy's one of the most special and cool musicals I've seen as it BLENDS all of this just flawlessly - hilarious, dark, sweet as all get-out, disturbing, it's just amazing. <3
:3 I believe the recording I got is the "original cast recording" from New York - at least it sez recorded in NYC in the liner notes. Starring Devan May as Edgar; is that the one ye have?

Well, Devon May is the star of both, but there is a London recording and an Off-Broadway one. I'm referring to the London recording. Its just so awkward. e_e Devon is amazing.

Ahh - no, I've never heard the London version, but now I'm actually rather glad. xD I really wouldn't want anything to detract from the awesomeness. At least in the Off-Broadway recording methinks I've got, everything seems really together. Oh sure, there are parts where some of the voices get a little too treble-y and I'd like to hear some richer instrumentation (which is mostly probably just me being a music perfectionist), but all in all it's really enjoyable to listen to - and I think the lyrics are brilliant. How are they different/bad in the London version, if ye feel like telling? :3
n__n I'm really happy ye like my random-arse scrap-pic - I was just really hyper and happy and feeling very fond of BB upon listening. xD My handwriting really is illegible though - I intended to write "'Nother Dead Cow", as in we got one, but yer right, it TOTALLY looks like "Mother dead cow" xD Which is almost funnier in a darkish way.
