Description
Here is design #5 of the Voidsong series, The Shattered Maiden! It's been so long since I've done an aetherling and I really missed them a lot, it was a good opportunity to draw them again and compare vs. my older aetherling work. I'm also EXTREMELY weak for colors like this ;___;/
The Shattered Maiden concludes the Tale of the Shattered Heart, so an extra conclusion paragraph is included below!
For more about aetherlings, check out their lore page here! I may also be working on an updated trait guide to be released sometime in the future, depending on interest in future aethrin/aetherling related content!
Aethrin | Aetherverse: Lore
This design is the first Tier 2 of the series, meaning it includes an extra form and some special traits as well! This aethrin has the elements Aether (primary) and Void (secondary) with a voidal mutation that causes crystal anomalies on their arm and leg. It's not a true 'floating crystal' pattern like a Paragon would have, but broken crystal shards that form the rough shape of the limbs and move like limbs would! The aura is a rare variant of the Aetherclouds shape, molded like wings formed from wayward aether that spills from their form.

Chapter 5. The Shattered Maiden

Tale of the Shattered Heart
Race: Aethrin/Aetherling [Elements Aether and Void]
A beautiful and adventurous aetherling with crystals of shimmering, prismatic hues - now broken and cursed by the daimon's pact. Claiming her aether as his own, her body and crystals cracked and wayward aether spills from her, influenced by the voidal contract and causing her constant pain. Nevertheless she persists, fighting off the daimon's influence in the hopes of finding an answer.
Before her curse, she was an avid gatherer of magical items and trinkets, and found in those items the comfort of her essence - enchantment.

Conclusion of the Tale of the Shattered Heart
(This conclusion is just for inspiration and for fun! It proposes a possible way for the Narrator's curse to be lifted, freeing them from the tale.)
Colliding into a final confrontation, the White Stag, his arrow growing ever closer, and the Daimon whose deal ensnared his friend, clashed violently over the fate of the Maiden. What was written in blood could not be resolved by it, and while the Stag’s antlers did pierce their foe, so too did the black arrow find purchase to its quarry, disturbed by the intense battle and finally piercing the Stag's heart. In immense grief, the Maiden fell over the body of her dear friend; the willpower and enchantment that held back her crystallization falling apart until she was nothing but a beautiful statue. In the aftermath the Tailor could do naught but weep in frustration. So many dead, and no one willing to change.
And so many cycles in the past, the Tailor could only watch in horror as the crimson thread slipped from the arrow, relinquishing the hold of Fate -- and dooming the tale to end in tragedy time and time again.
But as a new chance dawned, and the Tale finally told, the Tailor's eyes would open to the reason.
It was not she that needed the spark of inspiration, of passion and compassion - but they, who had been so consumed by pride and vengeance.
