Description In Rhode Island, a tale is told,
Of Mercy Brown, with hair of gold.
A young girl, fair and full of grace,
Her story lingers, a haunting trace.
A fever struck, a sickness dire,
Consuming life with relentless fire.
Her family wept, they tried in vain,
To save dear Mercy from the pain.
But as she faded, pale and weak,
Whispers spread, of something bleak.
A suspicion grew, a fearful thought,
Of Mercy's soul, with evil caught.
They exhumed her body from the grave,
Her heart they sought, a life to save.
But what they found, it chilled their bone,
For Mercy's heart, it hadn't turned to stone.
They burned her heart, to ash and dust,
A desperate act, born of mistrust.
Yet Mercy's name, it lives today,
A legend of Rhode Island's dark display.
Was she a vampire, or just a girl,
Lost to illness in a tragic whirl?
Her story echoes, a tale of dread,
The Rhode Island vampire, whose name is said.
