I see Martin really wanting to impress John, because Martin really respects Sherlock and if SHERLOCK likes this guy...to borrow from Arthur, he must be brilliant! I think John would be fascinated by a Holmes boy that came out so normal and of course be his usual charming self which would make Martin more comfortable, which only serves to make the moments when he fumbles (because it's Martin and he WILL fumble) all the more awkward for Martin scrambles to regain good-graces, not realizing that there's very little he could do to fall out of favor with John, the most put-upon man in London. Does that make sense? I'm not sure I explained very well. Martin wants John to like him, basically, because Sherlock likes John.

Haha, people be warned, if you make comments, you never know when I'll spring crazy head-canon things on you and leave comments that have no business being so large. I've been commenting now for about a week. And everyone reading is BOOORREDD.

I'm a Sherlockian, but have only listened to bits of one episode of Cabin Pressure, right around the time I stumbled across the crossover anyway.

Totally! Is it the crossover that confuses you? Or just Cabin Pressure?

Well the Crossover, Cabinlock, more or less springs from them being both BBC and REALLY REALLY comes from Benedict Cumberbatch. You said you're a Sherlockian so I'm sure you know that that's Sherlock but he also plays Martin Crieff, the incredibly awkward, aviation obsessed, totally lovable pilot. There's really no way to know Martin but to listen to the series, and then fall undeniably in love with him, all the other characters and the series.
The crossover itself, as far as explanation goes...(this is what I said to someone else who asked) For me personally, it's based off of something they cut out of season 1 of BBC. Originally, they were going to allude to a young Sherlock having caught his father in an affair. (House M.D. which is obviously based on Sherlock Holmes, did something similar too.) In my headcanon, Martin is the product of that affair...making him the younger half-brother, raised by his mother's legitimate family, the Crieffs.

I'd just seen a couple of your other drawings, and I find the idea adorable, but I didn't know enough about Cabin Pressure to really get them! D':

You should listen to them because they are amazing! That is reason enough! But yes, Crossovers are also a good reason, lol

Series three of Cabin Pressure is recorded after Sherlock had started so there's a whole episode of Martin trying to solve a mystery and it's endlessly adorable with this crossover in mind. He even tries to say "Once you've ruled out the improbable etc..." but comes out all jumble and it's the moment where if you weren't already thinking about Cabinlock, you are now and nothing hurts.
