The winners for 1st and 2nd prize have been decided. But the official announcement will be in the next blog. I don't want to spoil the excitement ^_^ Members can vote for the 3rd winner. So for participants who haven't won, that will be the last chance.

Bad is alright. The point is you have fun in making it

I need to find a good tutorial for beginners that wanna do the stock photo manip kinda thing. I don't even know where to begin, but i would LOVE to learn!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HectorHimeros In reply to WiccanWT [2014-01-29 08:59:28 +0000 UTC]

Learn from the basic. Cutting out photo elements. Then try to paste them together. Don't worry if it looks crude or bad.

My first arts are very crude. I even once got mocked by a bunch of primitive "monkeys" in a forum. They all laughed at my arts and tried to ruin my confidence. Everyone starts from bottom. So although your photomanip is crude, you'll improve.  Trust me.

Another important thing is to find your own style. So that eventhough someone steals your art, those who know you can still recognize your arts because of your style. But style comes at later stage.

I shouldnt let being new stop me you are right. And i really appreciate all of your advice.
Do you have a suggestion of where I should go to find the parts? I a total newbie
when it comes to all of this, so I dont even know where to look =/

HectorHimeros In reply to WiccanWT [2014-01-30 01:46:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, DA is full of resources You can find many stock photos. It depends on what you want to create. If you want to make arts like mine, you need a model and background. But you can also try it with inanimate object (like teapot) or animals. Just do simple things first.

I make some tutorials too: hectorhimeros.deviantart.com/g… It's not really detailed but it can give you some insight. I also suggest you to find similar tutorials in DA, or download "free" Photoshop PDF magazines from ebook forums.

My first ever, fav.me/d74x3lb I kept it simple, since I had no real vision in mind before starting.

Can it be something related to the movie mama or may I (attempt) to draw something in along with the stocks I use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HectorHimeros In reply to jrubia1 [2014-01-24 23:40:23 +0000 UTC]

You can combine photomanip and drawing, as long as you use at least two of our chosen stocks.
Related to a movie? Yes. As long as it has underwater/water theme.

MEGAmegalicious [2013-11-15 20:31:06 +0000 UTC]

Does the picture have to have the actual stock pictures you choose or can you take the idea and draw something from that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HectorHimeros In reply to MEGAmegalicious [2013-11-16 01:26:04 +0000 UTC]

If you want to, you can mix it: photomanip and drawing I've seen several artists do that. It'd be awesome.

The stock requirement is mandatory though: at least one provided landscape stock AND at least one provided element stock. Feel free to add your own chosen stocks.

Hi FrostBo, that's a great offer. I'll add it. But I need to know, is the 300-point prize only for 1st winner or for all? Or lesser for 2nd and 3rd?

Andecaya In reply to FrostBo [2013-11-04 09:49:39 +0000 UTC]

That's an amazing offer!!

We would write it on the blog and send you a note when the contest is over. Then you give the prize by yourself to the winner.

Do you want to give 300 to the first place or some other values to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place (so 150 1st, 100 2nd, 50 3rd for example)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FrostBo In reply to Andecaya [2013-11-04 15:22:51 +0000 UTC]

I agree with this step

I prefer to give it to the contest master, because i give around 4000 by month, i can't remember where i need to send it to

If you can give them for me, i will be happy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HectorHimeros In reply to ShoyzzFanArt [2013-11-07 12:57:16 +0000 UTC]

Sure you CAN! But please make sure you've included at least 1 of our landscape stocks AND 1 of our element stocks. You can add otehr stocks from your choice, but make sure you write all credits.

And please have fun with your art, no matter how crazy/weird it may look
