Description Kadia shook her head slightly and winced from the pain.  She let her head fall back to the floor and breathed, “No.  I was captured along with my companions.  Have you seen them?”  There was a twinge of pain from her arm as she tried to flex her fingers.
“Are you talking about those creatures that had markings on their foreheads like you?”  Thalia asked as she began to clumsily kneel down to Kadia’s level.
Her tail kept her balanced well enough, but without her arms she wobbled a bit.  She went to her knees and then sat back on what should have been her rump.  She slid down onto her horse part’s underbelly, bent her legs like a human sitting, and curled her fish tail around her haunches.
“I have a marking on my forehead?” Kadia asked as she tried to look up to see it.  Realizing that she was wasting time, she shook her head slightly and said, “Never mind.  I guess that might be them.  Was there a boy and a girl?”
Thalia gave her a blank look.  “What is the difference?”  She asked with a look of pure ignorance.
Kadia stumbled over words, “Well, a boy is… uh… never mind.  One had reddish hair and the other had blond hair, right?”
Thalia thought for a moment and said, “Yes, one had long red hair and the other had short hair, colored like mine.”  She pointed to her own tresses.
“All right,” Kadia said aloud, “now to get out of here.  Wait, why are you here?”
Thalia shrugged and said, “I am a rarity in the words of the bandits.  I am to be sold on the MCBM.  This is my fourth time here.”
“What’s the MCBM?” Kadia asked.
“The Mythical Creature Black Market.”  Again, Thalia shrugged.
“Why is it your fourth time?”
“I am caught, sold, and then, I escape.  The bandits seem to think I am a good asset to their pockets,” she sighed.
Kadia creased her eyebrows and thought for a moment.  So, I’m to be sold, along with my friends and her.  She looked up, trying to figure out how high the top of the container was.  She groaned slightly.  Too high.  She flexed her fingers again and felt a shooting pain in her shoulder.  She gasped inaudibly and rolled over onto her stomach and then to her other side.  She now had her back to Thalia.
“What exactly is the Mythical Creatures Black Market?” she asked slowly.
“It is a place where people come to bid on creatures rare to the world.  The bandits gain all the money and care nothing for the treatment of their captives.”  She said knowingly and then went silent.  After a moment, she continued, “Some are bought to show off that person’s wealth, but many are bought cheaper than mules and are put into forms of slavery.  Many that are brought here have been in slavery before and escaped.  Others, like you, know nothing of the horrors that so many here have been through.”  She said these last words in a light whisper, neither harshly nor angrily.
Kadia was quiet for a while, and then she asked, “Why would the bandits want to sell humans on a mythical creature black market?”
Thalia sighed.  “I know nothing of their motives, except that they want to get rich.”

Oh, my.  I had forgotten about this one. I wrote this in 2003, and haven't touched it since.  Thank you for reminding me about it!  I will absolutely start working on it again!  Thank you, again!

You can add the tags so that it will turn up... I'd get it out on the 'taur groups, you'd get more attention and feedback.  I so hope you will expand on such a good start!
