Oh Yes it's true Kyra is going somewhere with her mother like tourists c: just like in reality where many are ready to leave home for to celebrate Christmas on beach either mountain. I know I did not mention this thing in previous pages, but let's say Kyra just met him and told about Christmas plans or whatever before the first pages of "Home Alone".
