Description My horsie has finally settled into the barn and he is able to focus on stuff and not panic when he leaves his stall.  He is very social so leaving his neighbor was hard at first.  He is bored with the round pen now and is like, ok I get it, I'll listen to you...
His injury is basically recovered.  Just waiting for the black skin to grow over a small pink area that was left but it's all sealed up.  His hoof cracked bit fell off and his feet are doing okay, not great but that will be a work in progress over the next year.
Still has some runny manure, so I may decide to try him on a probiotic, but I'm thinking now I'll wait till next month before I try to change his feed or add anything in case he is just taking some time to get used to the new hay.  Then if by next month it's still runny I'll try a probiotic or a feed change not sure yet.  The alfalfa is very rich, and the bermuda is very dry.  Before we had "bad" alfalfa and good bermuda and his mature firmed up, it was great!  I think this alfalfa is too rich and he doesn't like the bermuda so he doesn't eat it all.  They also have orchard which I will try if I need to.  I feed him about half flake extra a day to maintain his weight based on how much I work him that day.  Right now I'm giving him 3 way, and he likes it ok, but I know it tends to be higher in sugar so I might change that too, maybe to a stemmy alfalfa that he did well on before.  I'm allergic to other hays and can't feed them so my choices are limited, basically bermuda, alfalfa, or 3 way.  Enough feed rambling...
He likes galloping in the arenas, which he hasn't had before!
I "rode" him today in the arena and he was pretty good! I might buy a cheap western saddle if it fits him, or go buy an english girth to go with my english saddle for him.  Either should work, or I might end up with both we'll see.  Today I just rode him with a bareback pad and my body was like, what the hell are you doing, you are out of shape... So me and the horse will get in shape together!
He is okay with going over jumps! He just walks over them, not jumps, but it's a good sign he doesn't stop, I'll be able to train him to jump, hopefully run barrels, and some dressage/reining moves.  He really needs some practice on maintaining a consistent gait and making even circles, and bending and stuff... so all this will be a long road away cause he needs some solid miles on him.  Might hop out on the trail at some point too.
I think he is back to being happy, he was a bit grumpy for a few days when we first started in the round pen! I am so proud of him today because I have low expectations so we always try to do awesome so I can praise him a lot.  I'm training him very slowly, no need to rush this guy we have time to enjoy with one another.
Ok, enjoy his majestic gallop! My friend took this video a couple days ago!
