Description
Allosaurus jimmadseni here was the third valid species of Allosaurus. Its species name honors James “Jim” Madsen, who studied Allosaurus extensively, and was formally described in 2020; however, use of the name dates back to at least 2006.A. jimmadseni, like A. fragilis, comes from the Late Jurassic (~150 million years old) Morrison Formation of Utah and Wyoming, United States, but can be distinguished by its slightly older age and proportionally longer snout.
Some scientists believe A. jimmadseni is just an individual variation of A. fragilis and not a seperate species, but more research is needed to confirm this.
