Legend has it that when a weary traveller gets lost in a blizzard, they might encounter upon the beautiful Yuki-onna (winter personified). She has pale, white skin that blends into the snow, and sometimes either has a white kimono or appears nude. The one thing about her is her eyes, which were said to stare into your soul. She sometimes appears as a woman holding a child, to parents who have lost their children, and once the parents take the child out of her hands, they are instantly frozen. She freezes and kills her victims, but is sometimes depicted as a vampiric being in Japanese legends.
