Old commis work from a long while back of Nami from One Piece (time-skip). I've always liked her character so this was a pretty fun one to do = )! As requested I tried making her look her age and put a little meat on her, rather than the signature stick thin style.

Wow, very well done. I liked how you decided to show some age on Nami a bit, and show her in a different way than how she normally is shown. Plus, I like the fact that she looks more realistic as well, and the posing is quite spot on.

Amazing work again!

Thank you
It's hard to believe she's 20 after the time skip, she really doesn't look it. So I enjoyed maturing her a little and giving her a different (more realistic) look than she normally is = )

You're very welcome.
And yes, I agree, it's hard to tell that she is 20. I can tell you did enjoy doing so.

Very nice, well done. The anatomy and posing is very good and i like the colour pallet.

My only critique would be the composition, the value range is very small which makes the piece look a little flat, as in 2d. In this case I would recommend making you dark values darker to add more contrast, weight and depth to the piece.

But don't get me wrong, love the piece, the anatomy is done really well and the face is fantastic!

Anyway, thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback, I've been trying to play with depth more, so I appreciate the critique - they're always welcome! I'll be sure to work on on them = D

Its refreshing to have an artist respond so positively to critiques!

I am a strong believer that, constructive criticism is a great tool for getting better, if taken the right way. Tho i understand, often times you do know what you did wrong.

Either way, lovely piece, truly. Anatomy is really hard to get right when so much flesh is exposed, especially with human anatomy. I struggle with it all the time and you nailed with this piece.

But yeah, i suggest experimenting with increasing the contrast. I wouldn't recommend adding to much black and white over colours, to add value, as that will muddy up your values.

If you paint in gray scale, obviously that's not an issues, and you can just add the colours in later. But if you paint with colour from the get go, its a bit trickier.

It like you have to learn colour theory, composition and value theory all at the same time.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on, here's a few, quick tutorials you might fine helpful:

This one i did as an example for someone else who i gave the same advice to:

This one was given to me at concept art.org when i was struggling with the same issues:

Human anatomy is always a challenge, but because I mostly draw people I guess it's something you need to get used too!
I tried using gray scale, but personally I prefer just using colour from the beginning to get a basic colour scheme going on.
But thanks for the tutorials, they were pretty interesting - as are most of the other ones you have = )

yeah definitely, i mean the number one tip to get better at the end of the day draw more lol so it makes sense.

I don't mind grey scale, but truth be told i use both methods, varying from piece to piece.

And no problem about the tutorials, i just hope they helped and or inspire you to draw something else.

Anyway, i don't know if i already said this, but consider me watching, your gallery is fantastic and i can't wait to see more!
