I read something about that on the internet. It appears that the similarities are fortuitous, Simon Pegg and the other writer had no knowledge of Rey at the time.

The script has most likely been written before Star Wars VII came out. J.J. Abrams had made a big secret about VII, after all, so nothing about it got leaked.
