It's funny; when I was younger, I didn't think much of Bulbasaur, but now, I think he's absolutely adorable and awesome. You drew him so well here!

I think one of the reasons Bulbasuar was unpopular as a kid was he fainted to just about everything in the wild starting off. Pidgey and Spearow was abundant and could easily knock it out and the Viridian forest was filled to the brim with bug types. It was just easier to pick one of the cooler-looking Pokemon like Charmander or Squirtle.

I agree he is still and always will be #1 of Pokedex. Plus i adore Bulbasaurs i chose them half of the time i started Pokemon Red or Pokemon Blue.

I typically chose Charmander as my started back in the day. I know that Bulbasaur was the smartest choice as far as taking out the gyms; however I liked having my fire type picked out early in the game.
