As you catch your breath from the almost vertical hike to the upper falls, and find your footing down to the water's rushing edge you are drawn into a surreal, fantastical landscape. Your breathing slows as you search for hobbits and gnomes, almost unaware you are already fully covered in a fine mist from the falls. An American dipper flies by so fast and low to the water you are sure he was a fighter pilot in another life, he lands and now is lending his odd song to the din of the waterfall.
