nice drawing, but i dont think that the both (left and right) could wear this uniform with NO RANK... but cute drwaing o.o

Left - No Insignia = Matrose, the lowest German Naval rank, they would usually have an anchor (normal service) or a star (officer cadette). The girl on the right is a "Flieger" (lowest Luftwaffe Rank)

TheFifthArtofWar [2015-08-10 11:33:41 +0000 UTC]

Since you took the Dienstanzug Grundform, why did you give the Navy girl the "Erste Geige" and not the actual officer uniform? Would've been way more fitting in the picture, still very nicely done though!

in this pic they aren´t officers or have an officer rank... but also German Officer canidates of the Navy wear the "Erste Geige" until they reach the first NCO rank "Sekadett" before they reach their first Officer rank what is called "Leutnant zur See" = Lieutenant at sea

TheFifthArtofWar In reply to DaveSheepek [2016-11-22 17:05:05 +0000 UTC]

I am a German Naval Cadette myself, so I already know that. And I knew it when I posted the comment too, but for the general image I believe the Uffz Geige would look better. Sure the Kieler Matrosenanzug is Iconic for the navy, but here it seems a bit off. And I'm sure you know this isn't how a normal naval soldier wears the Erste Geige. Only the Wachbataillon still use it with Koppel and boots. At least I've never seen any other seamen wear the Koppel.

TheFifthArtofWar In reply to DaveSheepek [2016-11-24 20:41:36 +0000 UTC]

Practically the Girl from the Luftwaffe has no rank at all, which is kinda weird, since she's wearing a Uniform that only is given to those of at least Gefreiter/Obergefreiter. If I see it correctly, it's kinda hard to see with no zoom, I think you gave the girl from the Heer the rank Hauptfeldwebel (the symbol looks like a fish when viewed from the side, is it that?). And then again, the Marine girl has no rank, which in this case would make sense, but doesn't look as good on a picture where the others wear the uniforms worn by all ranks, whereas the uniform of the Navy as portrayed here is only issued to freshmen.

Edit: Also, the combat boots are not worn to this uniform, normal leather shoes are worn to it, females mostly even wear high heels. The combat boots are only allowed with the Dienstanzug when in the field/ for the heer when being in the Berganzug (wordly: Mountainsuit, more: Mountain Uniform), which is only issued to the Gebirgsjäger, or in the "Großer Dienstanzug" (wordly: Big Uniform) which is worn on special occasions e.g. Parades.

You can read everything here, the article is in german though, but the pictures are more important anyway, if you want to understand parts of it, ask away, I can give you a translation ;D de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dienstan…

What are you talking about?  They are all wearing the black "Koppel" so this is the Großer Dienstanzug. So the Boots are correct!
Also these uniforms are given to recruits when they start their basic training. Every Luftwaffe recruit wears this blue uniform for their Feierliches Gelöbnis.
So it's worn before you have a real rank.

if you like uniforms and specially German military stuff from the WW2 I recommend you to watch Girl und Panzer!
The 5 main characters us a German Panzer IV etc. ^^ and their characterdesign and story is really well done

I have never seen sucha great short Anime Series... there isn´t erotic or bloody voilence and not so much heavy chest women like in the newest Animes... so it´s more kind of a series for kids... Even they telling some historical facts from WW2, there no Swastikas or Nazi stuff in it... it is just focust on the military stuff specially the Tanks from Germany, France, Russia and so on... And I think that makes this Anime so great!

of course there are some little sexual innuendoes, but only 3 or 4 in 14 episodes... the voilence isn´t that hard, nobody get´s hurt badly... have a look you will like it

When I served in the "Bundeswehr" we used to joke all the time about the uniforms, especially the "Heer" uniform in the middle. We laughed at the ground troops for having a parade uniform with black trousers and a field grey jacket so that they wouldn't confuse the jacket for their pants.

Needless to say, the German army went from some of the best uniforms around to some of the worst and it was all intended during the re-armament after WW2. No longer was the German soldier allowed to be the best dressed citizen for obvious reasons. (Compare SS and Wehrmacht Uniforms).

There are many voices surfacing in Germany right now, demanding a redesign of the uniforms and I hope this will take place quite soon. However I marvel at your cute little drawing. I imagine it to be a hit right now, getting passed around quite often. It is really an adorable picture and yes the number of female soldiers in the Bundeswehr is growing at a steady rate!

You took some liberties in the design however. These are not the original Boots on the left, the field boots are not worn with the blue "Luftwaffe" uniform, instead we had to wear shorter leather shoes. We did have gloves, but they were thick and not as elegant, also more blueish. And why is it, that the ground soldier (middle) is the best shooter of them all? (silver rope) XD
Of course the hairstyles wouldn't be allowed, however in my company there used to serve a "Goth" type of character with extremely long black hair who simply refused to cut it. You were able to point him out miles away. This went on for about 6 months, be he didn't cut it until the end of conscription.

It is a stunning, beautiful and very, very cute picture. You put a smile on my face and that of a lot of soldiers. Simply beautiful!

Thanks so much for your comment buddy!

IMO I don't see a huge difference in designs between the WWII era and modern dress uniform, well except for the top and bottom colours. I reckon what makes the look derper is the presentation: The army troops don't wear their ceremonial belts as high as the old tradition, moreover, the jacket looks way longer plus the way they wear jackboots, so many factors that make the soldiers look shorter than usual (they look just fine on anime girls though, lol ).

The lack of decoration however is the biggest issue. German soldiers just don't look the same without the iron crosses on their neck, chest and ribbons, badges, medal bars, parade belt, etc even though WW2 Wehrmacht veterans still had more or less the same prestigious appearance with the 1957 regulated decorations on the modern Bundeswehr dress.

I did mention somewhere in my previous comments that I'm glad to see the Marine and Luftwaffe still keep the traditional uniform designs (with some modern modifications). I personally prefer the way sailors wear black bottom instead of the old German navy blue though. Luftwaffe officers used to wear riding pants and jackboots, they looked so much more noble and badass but the current dress is fine too, I love the current gold collar patches even though they ceased to represent the rank of the airman.

Should the German army decides to redesign its uniform, I'd like they refer to the parade dress American Berlin Brigade used during their stay in West Germany in the Cold war, especially the boots! If German like to wear jackboots, they should stop wearing them they way they are now, otherwise, the high legs American jump boots is a nice touch (which I think I drew it on the Luftwaffe girl, lol)

aloron666 In reply to The-King-in-Grey [2014-01-31 13:52:47 +0000 UTC]

I am pretty ok with beret, it's a good military fashion. I think the German military has retained most of their traditions (and best music). The sailor uniform is my most favourite since it's so manly (forget about Japanese serafuku, meh) and been the same throughout history. The Luftwaffe uniform too didn't change much.

The-King-in-Grey In reply to aloron666 [2014-01-31 14:03:12 +0000 UTC]

The beret may be a good military fashion but it isn't exactly a German Military fashion. Early panzer units wore them for a limited time but favored caps and crushers.  I agree that the sailor uniform is very nice. I still think the boots conflict with potentially the best modern uniforms.

Regardless the drawing is superb
