...I demand a whole Byzantine church whose icons are done in anime style! Including the Christ Pantocrator Icon on the ceiling and the Theotokos of the Sign behind the altar! (We'll throw in the Crucifixion and Harrowing of Hades too.) This is BEAUTIFUL!

That's beautiful. I like it a lot. Seen this pic on Russian tvnews where they made a scandal out of this and other pics, saying that being posted on a Russian social network they offend religious feelings of believers in Ufa. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to prosecute someone who posted it

Unfortunately, I see similar hatred for this by converts to Orthodoxy as well. Orthodoxy has an extreme insularity & ethnic problem. I fear they're hating it simply because it's (slightly) different. Either that, or it's because a non-Orthodox would DARE make Byzantine iconography. Probably a mix of both. Doesn't help that anime is infamous for / has a reputation for objectifying women.
