Description

Set in the same world as my United Communes maps, this one is of the Arab Kingdom of Syria in 1930. Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1918, the fate of the Levant was unknown as nationalist groups rallied for a united Arab state, while the British forces continued their march past Jerusalem.
Eventually, a Syrian National Congress was convened in Damascus, and the Arab Kingdom of Syria was proclaimed, with Faisal I as King. Despite this, the French had other plans, and began to prepare for an invasion to secure Syria as the newest addition to their empire. Despite the numerical and technological advantage of the French, a defiant Faisal I refused to surrender, and mustered his forces for a battle in Maysalun. Using the terrain to their advantage, the forces of the young kingdom achieved a narrow victory, forces the French army to fall back. While this battle proved a huge moral victory for the Kingdom, what ultimately saved the Kingdom was disaster on the Western Front. With the collapse of the Front into open revolution, the French were forced to withdraw to defend their nation from the International Red Army. British forces too would soon be forced to withdraw to deal with the revolutions in Europe and North America, and following the Egyptian Revolution, the British garrisons were forcibly expelled from Egypt, allowing Syrian troops to march south and unite Greater Syria.
As of 1930, the Arab Kingdom of Syria belongs to neither the League of Nations nor the Third International. the Kingdom remains neutral in International conflicts, hoping to avoid a potentially devastating war. The Arab Kingdom of Egypt stands with the Sultanate of Egypt to protect their young nations from the aggression of the Imperialist powers that tried to conquer them only 10 years prior.
