Some background practice that was supposed to be drawn in like 30 minutes... Instead of... 8... goddamn... hours....ANYWAYS I really adore this, I'm just kinda unhappy with the ocean, but I never had a talent for drawing oceans anyway so I guess I just have to practice more.
Here we can examine Emerald getting ready to ruin everyone's morning by preparing to gather up a nice thunderstorm. Oh and if there is a region in Equestria that looks something like the chalk cliffs, she'd definitely live there.
I could actually picture this kind of environment in the north of Equestria, like really far to the west of the Crystal Empire.

The water is great, I mean, it really looks like an ocean.
The one thing about this are the cliffs in the background, there's no perspective, nothing to show that it is really far away (such as another pony or even a building or structure in which would give a good idea of perspective). Also, if she would have a shadow stretching out in front of her it would make the actual shading on her much more convincing.
I hope I'm not sounding too harsh as this is just a practice, but hey, who would improve from only compliments (I do like the rest of it though)?

Well, I wasn't really asking for critique, because if I did, I would have just enabled the critique option. This was drawn for fun and I didn't really pay attention to anything, so there goes that. Just a practice on colors and contrasts.
The shading is completely fine, I'm really happy with it.

And it's not an 8 minute background, it's an 8 hour picture, and the background took about three hours.

Yeah, the stupid thing is, it took me 8 hours of intense concentration to get this done. But luckily, music helps me relax during my drawings. I literally can't draw without music.
