I too live in Anchorage and have seen shots like this, usually when i don't have my camera. I think you did a great job. I love the layered effect you get from the silhouettes of the trees in the forground to the far distant mountains, many levels. and the trees form a perfect frame for the light. well done.

the curtain of light, when it comes through the clouds like that and hits a lot of air moisture so you can see the light, there's a certain name for it.
