Description Another push coming through. Comments locked because AI bros are scummy as hell.

Reminder I don't post my things on Deviantart besides the comic. If the remaining rendered work I've got here wasn't being used as evidence in the Stable Diffusion Lawsuit, I'd probably delete that all off of here as well.

FAQ:

Why are you posting this again:
DA right now is absolutely rampant with AI simps, who dogpile and brigade posts like this.

Why are comments locked:
See answer 1.

What's your stance on AI?
I think AI has some applications, but should stay far and away from art. I think it's currently being used especially on DA for people to lie to others to grift them on commissions, while having minimal practicality in the world outside of internet commissions by people who don't know better. I think any nominal applications is overshadowed by people so toxic they come up with names like "Pencil Slaves" and "Paint Pigs" using AI as the next get rich quick scheme. "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than beg for permission" has been abused to hell and back with this crowd. I think the companies who made it are scummy, and I think DA's pushing for them because they're parented by WIX and have been neck deep in NFT's and AI since day one. (NFt's are baked into the site again, they just did it quietly, isn't that nice of them)

As a professional on this site, how does AI apply outside of DA?
Here's the neat thing, it doesn't! If you're a freelancer looking to break into commercial work (which is any work done for print/ companies with a practical use) and have been having trouble since...oh August or September of last year, this is why. Companies have clamped down on hiring unknowns since this became so rampant, because they can't verify who's using AI or not. Since AI is not copyrightable, they can't retain legal rights on it for publication or production. And since AI bros love to hide the fact they're prompting/ generating, they've screwed everyone else. I didn't realize this wasn't a known fact. AD's (art directors) are going with folks they've worked with in the past/ know, which has lead to an absolute boom for established artists like myself. I'm literally booked till Fall of 2024.  Thanks AI art????

What can I do right now to protect myself?

www.artgram.co/ and Furaffinity are both against AI. Artgram uses, ironically counter-AI to reject folks submitting prompts. Artstation's somehow worse than Deviantart. Twitter is a godless land.

As for DA, I've seen an uptick in AI accounts now personally going around scraping images they'd like. I wouldn't post anything on DA, and honestly I wouldn't post the comic if the AI for generating comics relies more than one thing, so it turns out some weirdly choppy nightmares, thankfully.
