Ok, funny story behind this. Last night, I was listening to some music on my mp3 player as I was drawing a pic of Ratigan. I had the playlist on shuffle. Suddenly the theme to Pirates of the Caribbean started to play. So, just for kicks, I started drawing pirate clothes on Ratigan. As the music kept playing, I started thinking about what the GMD world would be like if they were pirates... Long story short, about an hour later these sketches were born and I have about 75% of a fanfic planned. Amazing what things inspire you

So, if I ever get around to writing this story, it will have the same ideas as the original movie. Ratigan is still the Napoleon of Crime, but he's also the greatest most feared pirate of the 7 Seas.

I was originally gonna have Basil be a Commodore or something and have him and Ratigan chasing each other all over the ocean... y'know, sort of like Norrington and Jack Sparrow's relationship ... But I can't really picture Basil as being a captain for some reason. So instead, I think the British navy would be sort of like Scotland Yard. Basil tried to join the navy, but got kicked out because he was a smart butt and felt restrained by all the rules and regulations (and stuffy uniforms), and couldn't follow orders, so he's not one of them. He actually ends up being demoted to one of the lowest and most humiliating ranks on the ship: cabin boy. But despite this setback, he still wants to help, and with his supreme intelligence, he really could be a huge help in catching the pirates if anyone would listen to him. But thanks to his reputation (and a certain jealous Commodore who feels threatened by Basil's intelligence), no one takes him seriously.

One day Captain Padraic Ratigan, Scourge of the 7 Seas, raids their ship, killing most on board. Basil is one of the ones taken captive, and somehow (not sure how yet) ends up having to work on Ratigan's ship (again, probably as cabin boy). But after some time of trying unsuccessfully to defeat Ratigan and gain his freedom, Basil gives in, and serves his duties reluctantly. But eventually, even Ratigan grows impressed by Basil's intelligence, and at some point even makes him his first mate. Basil plays along, hoping to get his chance to defeat his foe, but Ratigan is very careful. You know the saying "keep your friends close and your enemies closer"? Yeah, it's sort of like that

Not entirely sure what role Amber will play yet. I think I have an idea, but it's kinda dark and I don't know if I'll go that route. She might be captured by Ratigan's crew at some point, I don't know. But anyway, Ratigan keeps her alive because he's taken a fancy to her, but so has Basil, and of course she's drawn to him because he's different from the other pirates.

Whew. Didn't mean to type that much But anyway, just wanted to share and see what you guys think.
