Popple tries to scare Birdo into remembering that she is his subordinate, his rookie, and nothing more.It doesn't work.
...But hey, I can't blame her. That Shadow Thief is pretty fine... (*watches as her boyfriend adds another item to his hitlist*)... at his job, I mean! I'm just in love with... his expressions.
This is just a total quickie, made in a couple hours as a break from my day-and-night studying during finals time.
I think if I ever made a sustained comic, this would be the style. I like this form of shading in black-and-white... I found such a cool brush! And the lineart, with the square brush, is a lot like a ballpoint pen.
Oh, also I decided to give Popple a scarf, just because he looks so cute with one. And I'm totally influenced by Kay Faraday, Great Thief from Ace Attorney Investigations!

Freaky crazy faces, pyschotically happy or astonishingly angry or otherwise, those are what I love to do! And like I said in an earlier comment, the characters of the Superstar Saga already have such wacky expressions that, in my efforst to exaggerate them even further, I am pushed to an unhealthy level of zaniness!

It's a great example of how people overlook what is really there when they're in love, like how you can overlook my arrogance. And of course it's done in your usual brilliant style.

Um... yeah I was. You killed Terry. I love Terry. Of course I was justified. It came out of the blue and you did it just because you were in a bad mood. At least when I'm in a bad mood I just torment my own character with worries and nightmares.
(I know everybody's allowed to do their own thing but I'm kind of defensive about not killing the characters that don't belong to us.)
I get worked up about this stuff. XD That actually wasn't the first time I'd done that with the fic; I got incensed at DB one time, but it was back at the end of its first run, when Blade decided to trash and crash Dac's funeral. That part eventually got edited or left out or something.

And I still disagree with you, love; you have no right to kill off a character that belongs to everyone and was not originally created by us without warning. But you know me and my fictional characters, so... to be honest it's mostly this, that you were killing off a part of my imagination that had mattered to me for as long as I've known you. So it rather stung.

Well, in any case, the last time I remember seeing this fellow, he was scrubbing mushrooms up in the village near TeeHee Valley, I must comment on how well you've captured his expression, and the pointy teeth and grotesque mouth capitalize on your unique style. Hmm, no Count Bleck in this one I'm afraid, except for in Nastasia's perpetual dreams and O'Chunks' flashbacks. As for the story, it's most definitely going to be finished, but I'm cooling it a little during this time of intensive study. Trying to write well is not much of a relief from studying for hours and plotting out a final paper. Drawing some insane scribbles like the above, now that's a break I can enjoy.
Thank you very much. I must say that exaggerated expressions were always my thing, but the M&L games work in that style too, and playing Superstar Saga has served as a challenge to push myself even further!

If only Wario and Waluigi made more appearances, I can honestly imagine Mario and Luigi facing off against their counterparts in the usual handheld RPG manner. Wouldn't that be something? Unfortunately, I am cursed without artistic talent, yet am blessed with all my delightful ideas, the irony of it all, I'd wager Dimentio's rolling around in his grave at this very second, enjoying an icy laugh piercing the night sky and the 6 feet of ground above him. Well, at least I've got a cadre of loyal artists to share my ideology with.
