Description
In which I draw the scourge of Jamie Fraser, one Captain Jonathan Wolverton Randall, better known as Black Jack Randall, as played by Tobias Menzies in the Starz production of Outlander.
This is part of a series of portraits I've been working on in the Outlander fandom.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines "scourge" as: 1) someone or something that causes a great amount of trouble or suffering 2) a whip that was used to punish people in the past
As much as we don't like him, I see BJR as being part of a triangle with Claire and Jamie, with Jamie as the fulcrum. Love and hate, compassion and cruelty, and the soul of a man hangs in the balance.
Huge thanks to my cheerleaders and enablers, jelazakazone, rocknvaughn, and k_nightfox, as well as alby _mangroves and Amphigoury for the beta help. And as much as I truly despaired of ever getting all that gold braid done, all the kudos to Terry Dresbach and the costuming department for this production because that is some serious costume porn right there.

The textures on the clothing, and the amazing way you've captured the 3D-ness of the hat, and the lovely folds in the neckscarf, and the depth to the person and to the background behind him. Just incredibly good. That's fantastic!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Stocks (and that gold braid, lord but there's a lot of gold braid on that uniform), as I'm finding, are a bit of a pain to render well, but worth it in the end. Thank you so much for the lovely comment, and the fave as well!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed following the wips on twitter, I always wonder if it's TMI to share those (but I know that I love seeing them, so I share anyway, lol). It was slow going getting through the braid, there just was no way to take any shortcuts, but worth it in the end!
