Well, Flash is resetting things prior to the movie's events. And since they know that Darkseid was spying on them, they'll hopefully have a better outcome since they know what's coming. Like John said, it's got to be a better outcome than what they ended at. Just a shame we won't get to see it.

No, according to the creators, this was the last movie in the New 52 series. The next movie is going to be Superman: Man of Tomorrow, which is going to take place in a different continuity movie series. So, unfortunately, we're never going to know how the final battle with Darkseid turns out. Like I said, presumably it all works out since they now have knowledge of what's coming and have the element of surprise on Darkseid, but it's still a shame we'll never get to see what happens. But that's what fanfiction is for.

I don't think so. He went back in time to prevent the failed attack on Darkseid, but all the events of the previous movies still happened (it wouldn't make sense for him to go back further and undo all their other victories and stuff from the other movies, as that would only hinder them and put the Earth at risk to those threats again). Meaning the upcoming movies would have to address all that and follow their continuity and everything that happened in them, and the creators said that they were done with that continuity. It's been revealed that there are countless alternate universes (this was addressed in Crisis On Two Earths). Basically, the writers are going to start a new continuity in one of those alternate universes and leave the final battle with the war with Darkseid in this continuity/universe open-ended. The whole alternate universe thing is basically a way for the movies (and comics) to keep telling the same stories again in different ways.
